Amy Engelhardt in (House) Concert
Hosted By: Melodee aka Harmony Gills
I'm thrilled to host my first house concert, featuring fellow Syracuse University alum, Amy Engelhardt, formerly of Grammy-nominated band (and NPR favorites) THE BOBS. Amy's a master songwriter and a great comedienne (see bio below), so it'll be a fun, informal evening, in my living room, with great food and new friends.
Put Carole King, Carol Burnett, Bach, Beck, the Muppets and Manhattan Transfer in a blender. That's... almost AMY ENGELHARDT. From 1998-2011, “Amy Bob” was the sole female member and writer/arranger for Grammy-nominated, genre-busting vocal "band without instruments" The Bobs, whose oxygen-intensive Colorado tours included concerts at the Vilar Center, the Boulder Theatre, tapings of NPR's E-Town and the Mile High Vocal Festival (featuring local vocal sensation FACE). Her work is featured on 4 Bobs CDs including her brainchild, Rhapsody in Bob (Gershwin's masterwork arranged for keyboard hurricane Bob Malone of the John Fogerty Band and vocal orchestra). Amy made her Off-Broadway debut in 2017 as composer/lyricist of ####### JONES, a rock musical adaptation of Henry Fielding’s TOM JONES. The show was a Richard Rodgers Award Finalist and a movie version is in the works. Other theatrical writing includes book/music/lyrics for TRIPTYCH (NY Transit Museum), commissioned adaptations of Carl Sagan's CONTACT(2009 Puget Sound Theatre Award: Best New Play) and NICHOLAS NICKLEBY and music/lyrics for A COMEDY OF ERAS at ACT Seattle (with the Flying Karamazov Brothers). Her solo CD, Not Gonna Be Pretty was hailed as the "unlikely and intriguing marriage of Nellie McKay and Meat Loaf." ("She's got the craft down cold...a rare and intelligent edge in wordsmithery." - Metroland). As a session vocalist, Amy’s credits include Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Jurassic World, Jim Henson's Animal Jam, Harry Shearer & Judith Owen’s Holiday Show (2003-2017, BAM, Walt Disney Concert Hall), Barbra Streisand's Timeless, the LA Bach Festival and Neil Young's Living With War. A winner of the Burman Award for Songwriting from the Manhattan Association of Cabarets, Amy is perhaps most proud of the multiple plays her comedy songs have had on The Doctor Demento Show. She is the only honorary female member of the Vienna Boys Choir. Seriously!
Food will start at 6:30ish. Music starts at 7:30. Suggested donation (everything goes to the artist) $20.

We had such a wonderful time, you are such a gracious hostess and Amy was fabulously entertaining! Thank you so much! Julie and Jim
Sounds wonderful but my daughter, granddaughter and I are attending a tea with my 102 year old mother-in-law then Tom and are going to a play.
Thank you so much for thinking of me! I will be studying for my upcoming finals next week. All the best for a fabulous concert!
Have a great time...will be out of the area, unfortunately. Saw the Bobs and really enjoyed their a Capella (Amy was no longer with group)
Wish I could be there! What a great idea. I know the house concert will be a great success!
